The best of the past and present meet in this distinguished design. Custom craftsmanship and distinctive detailing give this lakefront residence its vintage flavor while an open and light-filled floor plan clearly mark it as contemporary. With its interesting shingled roof lines, abundant windows with decorative brackets and welcoming porch, the exterior takes in surrounding views while the interior meets and exceeds contemporary expectations of ease and comfort. Nearby is a private sitting room and a 14 by 15-foot master bedroom with built-ins and a spa-style double-sink bath with a beautiful barrel-vaulted ceiling. The main level also includes a work room and first floor laundry, while the 2,165-square-foot second level includes three bedroom suites, a loft and a separate 966-square-foot guest quarters with private living area, kitchen and bedroom. Rounding out the offerings is the 1,960-square-foot lower level, where you can rest and recuperate in the sauna after a workout in your nearby exercise room. Also featured is a 21 by 18-family room, a 14 by 17-square-foot home theater, and an 11 by 12-foot guest bedroom suite.
In this first step of our design process, our head architect, Wayne Visbeen, listens to ideas, asks important questions, and puts pen to page to create beautiful drawings as you collaborate together.
From the preliminary sketches, our team gets to work on producing concept drawings that help further explore the initial ideas for designs. They are not definitive but rather a way of communicating design concepts and set the course for final plans.
The Finished Design
Anchoring the lovely atmosphere created by this properties open floor concept, the kitchen packages all of today’s modern conveniences inside a fresh take on a traditional looking kitchen. Seating for five is provided on two sides of the kitchen island, which features two globe pendants suspended above a glossy marble top. Soft toned and glossy, the backsplash tiles are placed diagonally behind the hammered copper hood and below the upper cabinets on either side of the farmhouse porcelain sink. Reserved only for the kitchen, a natural wood ceiling treatment reflects the wide planked hardwood flooring found throughout the main level. Tucked away and to the left of the large professional oven, is a charming butlers pantry. Black and white tiles and robins egg blue cabinetry separate this space from the rest of the house.
This lovely lakefront property features a luxurious master suite with adjacent sitting room. Dark blue wood doors with tall transoms can be opened up to either grow the living room into the sitting room, or expand the master bedroom, giving it private views through tall louvered wood blinds. A familiar blue color palette paired with antique brass fixtures reinforces the relationship between the three rooms. On the opposite side of the bedroom, past a custom built-in cabinet, is the entrance to the spa-like master bathroom. Crisp white vanities with matching mirrors, sinks, and wall pendants run the length of this space. Herringbone patterned marble floor tiles lead into a showstopper of a shower. Every surface of this shower uses marble in a unique way. The showerhead wall is flanked on either side by marble shelves and the floor gives way to intricate diamond patterning, giving a perfect sense of calm.
