Greenlea

This two-story, modern farmhouse is located on a narrow corner infill lot in historic downtown Holland, Michigan. The property is hemmed in by the street on one side, with a shared alley at the rear. This positioning drove the design of the two main exterior facades. The challenge was creating a charming cottage-style aesthetic with a beautiful front porch and a coherent roofline on such a narrow structure.

A geometric masterpiece inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, Stafford nods to the Pacific Northwest style and combines simple beauty and honest craftsmanship. The octagonal living room is the heart of the house, all other spaces emanating from that form. The plan embraces outdoor living spaces as the home opens outward into a large screened porch, patio, and swimming pool.

Avington

This house is on Lake Huron’s Thunder Bay in Alpena, Michigan. The client’s love of hosting and affinity for cars drove many of the design requirements for this home, including the large number of guest suites, the plethora of entertainment spaces, and the incredible four-car garage with a translucent door system. The homeowners wanted a transitional, modern home featuring glass, clean lines, and open interiors.
